Rezultatele recensământului în Moldova modifică PIB pe cap de locuitor

Recensământul populației și locuințelor din 2014 raportează o scădere a populației de 11,4% față de ultimul recensământ realizat în 2004 și implică un decalaj de 18,7% față de estimările curente ale populației. Aceste ajustări au contribuit la îmbunătățirea indicatorilor economici pe cap de locuitor din R. Moldova, potrivit unui studiu al Băncii Mondiale. În februarie 2014, Moldova a avut loc cel de-al doilea recensământ al populației de la declararea independenței. Biroul Național de Statistică a publicat rezultatele în 2017, după întârzieri mari cauzate de lipsa de capacitate și de resurse financiare. Potrivit datelor colectate, numărul total al populației după ajustări a constituit 2,998 mil. de oameni, din care 2,789 mil. erau rezidenți. Reieșind din aceste date, în 2016, PIB nominal pe cap de locuitor este în creștere cu 21,7% față de estimările curente ale Biroului Național de Statistică. Astfel, acesta ajunge la $2311 faţă de $1900, conform datelor estimate anterior. Statisticile naționale trebuie să fie uniformizate pentru a reflecta realitățile noi din țară. Deoarece BNS nu dispune în prezent de metodologii și capacități adecvate pentru colectarea datelor cu privire la migrație și întâmpină dificultăți la colectarea statisticilor vitale, rezultatele recensămintelor din 2004 și 2014 nu au fost reflectate în statisticile curente. În consecință, unicele statistici fiabile ale populației sunt rezultatele recensământului din 1989. Între timp, noile date cu privire la populație ar putea avea implicații asupra multor aspecte ale vieții economice și sociale, dincolo de indicatorii macroeconomici pe cap de locuitor discutați anterior și, prin urmare, asupra deciziilor aferente politicilor economice. De exemplu, acestea ar putea afecta sectoarele sănătății și educației, precum și deciziile de politici fiscale. Mai mult, discrepanțele se amplifică în timp, astfel îmbunătățirea preciziei și fiabilității datelor statistice devine critică în procesul decizional, menționează experții Băncii Mondiale.
