În Monitorul oficial din 11 mai curent a fost publicat un decret ce prevede inițierea negocierilor și aprobarea semnării Deciziei Comitetului de Asociere Republica Moldova – Uniunea Europeană reunit în configurația comerț, Deciziei Subcomitetului vamal RM – UE cu privire la actualizarea Anexei XXVI și a Deciziei Subcomitetului pentru indicații geografice privind modificarea Anexelor XXX-C și XXX-D la Acordul de Asociere. Modificarea anexelor menționate are drept scop ajustarea legislației naționale la acquis-ul comunitar actualizat, asigurarea conformității Codului Vamal al RM cu normele europene, extinderea termenilor de timp prevăzuți pentru apropierea legislației, garantarea accesului pe piață în sectorul serviciilor financiare, rețelelor și comunicațiilor electronice și transportului maritim internaţional. Astfel, se urmărește recunoașterea și protejarea indicațiilor geografice originare pe teritoriul ambelor părți. Potrivit Acordului de Asociere, indicațiile geografice sunt protejate împotriva oricărei utilizări comerciale, directe sau indirecte, a unei denumiri protejate, utilizări abuzive, mențiuni false privind proveniența sau calitățile esențiale ale produsului. Actualizarea prevederilor ce țin de indicațiile geografice derivă din importanța înregistrării indicațiilor geografice, în special a beneficiilor și avantajelor economice pe care le oferă desemnarea produselor cu asemenea tip de semne de distincție a originii și calități. Utilizarea lor va avea mai multe avantaje: atribuirea de valoare adăugată produselor cu indicații geografice protejate, interesul sporit al consumatorilor și cererea pe piață a acestor produse în raport cu cele care nu sunt desemnate cu indicații geografice. Actualizarea anexelor nu va genera cheltuieli adiționale la cele planificate inițial pentru procesul de armonizare a legislației naționale cu cea a UE.
