Procuratura Anticorupție a finalizat urmărirea penală în privința a cinci foști membri ai Comitetului de creditare ai Băncii de Economii, acuzați de încălcarea regulilor de creditare, cu provocarea unor daune în proporții deosebit de mari instituţiei financiare. Potrivit celor constatate de procurori, în intervalul anilor 2010-2011 fostul preşedinte, în coparticipare cu alţi patru membri ai Comitetului de Creditare al BEM, au acordat credite neperformante pentru trei firme în sumă de 244 milioane lei. Deşi, potrivit legislaţiei, intervenţia Comitetului de Creditare se impunea şi acordarea creditelor urma a fi stopată cu recuperarea imediată a mijloacelor financiare acordate, inculpaţii nu au întreprins acţiuni în acest sens, prejudiciind instituţia bancară în proporţii deosebit de mari. În total, Procuratura Anticorupţie a expediat în instanţa de judecată 10 cauze penale de învinuire a inculpaţilor de comiterea mai multor episoade de acordare a creditelor neperformante din sursele BEM. Actualmente, fostul preşedinte al Comitetului de Creditare al BEM se află în arest preventiv, iar complicii săi sunt cercetaţi în stare de libertate. În scopul recuperării prejudiciului cauzat Băncii de Economii au fost aplicate mai multe sechestre, inclusiv asupra bunurilor ce aparţin cu drept de proprietate învinuiţilor. Pentru comiterea infracţiunii respective legislaţia prevede amendă sau închisoare de pînă la 6 ani, în ambele cazuri cu privarea de dreptul de a ocupa anumite funcţii sau de a exercita o anumită activitate pe un termen de pînă la 5 ani. Urmărirea penală pe alte episoade ce vizează acordarea, în diferite perioade, a creditelor neperformante de către Banca de Economii este în desfăşurare.
