Anularea Acordului de Asociere cu UE ar arunca Republica Moldova cu zece ani în urmă. La fel, Constituția îi permite președintelui țării să semneze unele acorduri, dar dilema este că ele trebuie să fie ratificate de către Parlament. Astfel, a comentat directorul de programe IDIS Viitorul, Viorel Chivriga afirmațiile făcute de către Igor Dodon privind renunțarea Chișinăului la Acordul de Asociere și eventuala negociere a unui memorandum cu statele din Uniunea Economică Euroasiatică (UEEA). În același timp, promisiunea de eliminare a restricțiilor la exporturile moldovenești pe piața rusească nu poate schimba regulile economice. Nișele exportatorilor moldoveni au fost ocupate de altcineva. Lovitura aplicată de Rusia s-a răsfrânt asupra oamenilor săraci de la sate care au luat calea exodului. Acest lucru a fost pregătit de o parte de instituțiile rusești: Rospotrebnadzor, Rosselihozndazor. Or, Igor Dodon încearcă să soluționeze problemele care au fost generate de unele instituții de la Moscova. Referindu-se la utilitatea Acordului de Asociere, Chivriga a menționat că: din anul 2014 Republica Moldova a trecut prin câteva etape de transformare a instituțiilor de stat. A avut loc un transfer enorm de experiență, expertiză și alocări de fonduri în sumă de peste 800 milioane euro, în timp ce din Rusia nu am văzut nimic. O parte din agenții economici care au fost eliminați de pe piața Rusiei și-au găsit loc în UE. Sunt oameni, care înțeleg perfect ce înseamnă stabilitate, previzibilitate și reguli de joc care nu pot fi schimbate peste noapte. Oamenii văd rezultate concrete: drumuri, infrastructură modernă, servicii de calitate, școli, grădinițe și ajutor agenților economici care devin mai competitivi. Este un salt pe care Republica Moldova nu putea să-l facă singură sau alături de Federația Rusă. Totodată, statele Uniunii Economice Euroasiatice nu au frontiere comune cu Republica Moldova. Sunt câteva țări care fac parte din uniune a căror rezultate economice lasă de dorit. De exemplu, Federația Rusă este într-un declin economic profund și are mari probleme pe intern. Pe de altă parte, experiența statelor din UEEA este infimă față de cea țărilor din UE, a conchis Chivriga.
