O scurgere masivă de informații, peste 11,5 milioane de documente confidențiale, dezvăluie cum cei bogați și puternici folosesc paradisurile fiscale pentru a-și ascunde averea, printre aceștia fiind și 72 de foști și actuali președinți de țară. Documentele au fost sustrase de la una dintre cele mai secretoase companii din lume, firma de avocatură Mossack Fonseca, informează BBC News. Cele peste 11 milioane de documente confidețiale, obținute de ziarul german Suddeutsche Zeitung și împărtășite cu Consorțiul Internațional al Jurnaliștilor de Investigație, demonstrează cum Mossack Fonseca își ajuta clienții în evaziunile fiscale, să spele bani și să evite sancțiunile. Documentele prezintă legături cu 72 de foști sau actuali șefi de stat, inclusiv dictatori acuzați de jefuirea propriilor lor țări, scrie Realitatea.md. Aproximtiv 107 organizații de presă dn 78 de țări au analizat documentele. Potrivit directorului, Consorțiului Internațional al Jurnaliștilor de Investigație, Gerard Ryle, documentele acoperă activitatea zilnică a Mossack Fonseca în ultimii 40 de ani. Cred că scurgerea se va dovedi a fi, probabil, cea mai mare lovitură din lume dată vreodată offshore-urilor, din cauza amplorii documentelor, a spus el. Documentele dezvăluie o scemă de spălare de bani de peste un miliard de dolari, desfășurată de Banca Rusiei, cu implicarea unor apropiați ai președintelui rus Vladimir Putin. Aceste documente demonstrează, pentru prima dată, cum operează această bancă, subiect al sancțiunilor impuse de UE și SUA, ca urmare a anexării Crimeei. Banii au fost canalizați prin intermediul companiilor offshore, dintre care două au fost deținute, în mod oficial, de către unul dintre cei mai apropiați prieteni ai președintelui rus. Este vorba despre violoncistul Serghei Roldugin, care se cunoaște cu Putin din adolescență și este naș de botez al fiicei președintelui rus Maria. În acte, Roldugin a câștigat sute de milioane de dolari în profituri din afaceri dubioase.
