Cele trei bănci, BEM, Banca Socială şi Unibank, implicate în furtul miliardelor, trebuiesc lichidate. Declaraţia a fost făcută de către preşedintele Parlamentului, Andrian Candu, în cadrul emisiunii „Replica” de la postul de televiziune „Prime TV”, transmite Ipn. Candu s-a referit în special la Banca de Economii, în care statul deţine o cotă majoritară de acţiuni. Nu cred în prosperitatea bancară condusă de către stat. Statul este un manager foarte prost, un administrator prost. Implicarea anumitor funcţionari de stat în managementul băncii provoacă conflicte de interese, a declarat speakerul. Andrian Candu a mai comunicat că în cazul lichidării băncilor se va ţine cont de trei principii: restituirea deplină a depozitelor deponenţilor, continuarea investigaţiilor cu atragerea la răspundere a celor vinovaţi de fraudă şi recuperarea banilor sustraşi. În acest context Candu a mai spus că se lucrează la un proiect de lege de natură să evite astfel de fraude în sistemul bancar. În replică, jurnalistul economic, Ion Preaşcă, a declarat că în cazul lichidării BEM va fi imposibil de restituit banii tuturor deponenţilor. „Este vorba de 22 mlrd de lei, bani de care banca nu dispune”, a spus jurnalistul. La rândul său, Andrian Candu a spus că o bună parte din această sumă reprezintă „mişmaşuri” bancare sub formă de datorii reciproce, iar în realitate suma datorată deponenţilor este cu mult mai mică şi banca are posibilitate s-o acopere.
