Semnarea unu acord cu Fondul Monetar Internațioanal ar putea însemna pentru țara noastră nu doar suport bugetar și reforme, dar și majorarea capitalului investițional al Băncii Europene pentru Reconstrucție și Dezvoltare. O declarație în acest sens a fost făcută de Şeful Reprezentanţei BERD la Chișinău, Dimitri Gvindadze. Potrivit acestuia, orice acţiune menită să consolideze rezistenţa la şocuri a economiei poate duce la majorarea asistenţei din partea BERD atât pentru sectorul public din RM cât şi pentru cel privat. Semnarea unui nou acord cu FMI este cea mai bună posibilitate de a face acest lucru. Suntem hotărâţi să investim în sectorul privat, oferind sprijin investitorilor locali şi străini. Stabilitatea macroeconomică poate duce la impulsionarea acestor investiţii, a declarat acesta. Programul cu FMI este foarte important pentru RM. Şi nu e vorba doar de $179 mil., ci despre semnalul pe care noul program semnat cu Fondul îl va transmite – faptul că Guvernul este determinat să implementeze reforme. Stabilitatea macroeconomică este una dintre condiţiile principale pentru atragerea investiţiilor, astfel încât efectul de multiplicare să fie semnificativ şi pozitiv. Existenţa unui program cu FMI de asemenea va contribui la reluarea finanţării RM din partea UE şi a Băncii Mondiale, a mai declarat Dimitri Gvindadze. Banca Națională a Moldovei și Guvernul Republicii Moldova au îndeplinit acțiunile prealabile ale Memorandumului de politici economice și financiare din cadrul acordului la nivel de personal dintre autoritățile Republicii Moldova și experții Fondului Monetar Internațional, încheiat la 26 iulie 2016. Ca urmare, Consiliul Executiv al Fondului Monetar Internațional se va reuni, pe data de 7 noiembrie 2016, pentru a discuta solicitarea programului de finanțare a reformelor din Republica Moldova, pe o perioadă de trei ani, prin intermediul Mecanismului extins de creditare și a Mecanismului de finanţare extinsă ale FMI. Aranjamentul financiar prevede accesul la finanțare la un nivel de 75% din cota Republicii Moldova la FMI (circa $182,7 mil.).
